Captions & Subtitles

Add, style, and import captions, including highlighted and bilingual text.

The Caption Panel allows you to manage all subtitle-related functionality for your project.

AI Caption Generation

You can automatically generate captions from a video or audio file's speech.

In the main header, click on "Tools" (hammer icon) and select "Speech to Text".
Upload your media file. The tool works best with clear, spoken-word audio.
Click "Process". The AI will analyze the audio and generate a timed transcript.
After processing, click "Import to Captions". This will add all the timed text clips to the caption track on your timeline.

If you already have a subtitle file, you can import it directly.

Open the "Caption" panel.
Click the "Import SRT" button.
Select your .srt file. The captions will be automatically added to the timeline according to the timestamps in the file.

All captions share a global style that you can edit in the Caption Panel.

Font & Size: Change the font family, size, line height, and character spacing.
Colors: Adjust the text color and background color/opacity.
Position & Alignment: Set the captions to appear at the top, center, or bottom of the screen, and align the text left, center, or right.

Highlight Text: Enable the "Highlight Style" to make words change color as they are spoken. You must have word-level timing for this to work, which is automatically included when using the Speech-to-Text tool. You can customize the highlight text color and its background color.
Secondary Text (Bilingual Subtitles): Enable "Secondary Language Style" to add a second line of text, perfect for translations or annotations. You can style this secondary text's font, size, and color independently from the main text.
